POSITION TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist-Hybrid/Remote

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education 

DAYS: 152 Days 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Through reflection leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, school-based speech-language pathologists provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech articulation, voice, and fluency. Effective school-based speech-language pathologists strive to support growth and development in the least restrictive environment, close achievement gaps, and prepare diverse student populations for postsecondary and workforce success. These services are designed to enhance children’s academic achievement and help them meet their educational goals.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

A. Planning and Over-site 

 

B. Screening, Testing, Diagnosing and Advising 

 

C. Manage and Conduct Therapy 

 

D. Adhering to Local, State, Federal Regulations and Ethical Practices 

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS: 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

Master’s degree or higher, Colorado Department of Education-Special Services License with Speech/Language Pathologist endorsement, and American Speech and Hearing Association assessment certification or ASHA certificate preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of school-based services including children 0-21years of age.

Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of individuals.

 

Listening Skills: Need to be able to listen to the needs of parents/teachers so that issues will be kept to a minimum. Being able to listen means that more communication gets done in less time. 

 

Teaching Skills: Have a grasp on how to teach students ages 3-21yrs. to perform a task correctly guiding them through steps needed.

 

Resourceful/Adaptable: Need to think on your feet, improvise and adjust plans at a moment’s notice.

 

Collaborative: Need to communicate and get along with a variety of different people.
